Vote yes on the PAC school bond

Posted

Everything is expensive.

We’re not going to argue about why.

It’s true that living just seems to cost more and more each year. But we’re going to advocate for another one of your annual costs to go up.

If you’re reading this, if you live in the Pocahontas Area Community School District and have a say in the general bond vote, you should vote yes.

Vote yes because we should be investing in our future.

Vote yes because our school plays a vital role in keeping our community vibrant and growing.

Vote yes because you want to see students have more access to classes that will help them with jobs after they graduate, jobs that could help them stay close to home if they want to or that will take them around the world if that’s their dream. They might still end up back here. So many people have and it’s in the best way. They’re contributing to this community, volunteering, helping, shopping local and serving in countless ways.

Vote yes to keep track and field athletes safe. The high school track doesn’t have regulation size lanes or even enough lanes in some parts of the track. Student-athletes deserve better.

Vote yes to protect the district’s buses. PAC’s buses drive more miles than almost any school district in the state. This district is huge, geographically. Those buses are important because getting students to school is important. A yes vote on the bond will mean finally building a structure that fits and protects the district buses.

Vote yes because you value the education students get in this district. The need for a school doesn’t go away. The need to have smart and competent people living and working in this community doesn’t go away. Voting yes and supporting the school district is a way to ensure we have the school for years to come.

Vote yes because the district is putting its own money forward, too. The bond is a big chunk of the expected project cost, but it’s not the only money going toward the project. PAC is using millions of the district’s own money to make sure this project happens.

In recent years, PAC has shown itself to be a good steward of your tax dollars. The district built the middle and high school and paid it off early, saving thousands of dollars in interest.

Show a little faith that they’ll do it again.
